THE CARROLL CONSULTING GROUP STORY
Carroll Consulting Group was founded by Mike Carroll in 1990. Mike has a history
within the recruitment industry stretching back to the 1970’s and, with
a previous employer, was the first person in Queensland to introduce
the concept of IT contractors into the Queensland government. Mike and
his wife Nanette also purchased the Brook Street Bureau Office
Personnel business which they ran very successfully before selling in
2000. In the early 90’s Carroll Consulting Group and Brook Street would
present a dual service proposition to clients. Today, Carroll
Consulting Group is still partnering with some of these clients.
Carroll Consulting Group grew and established a reputation for thorough and reliable
recruitment services delivered with a high level of personal
commitment. The organisation, although recruiting across all management
functional areas, developed a strong profile for the provision of
excellent candidates in the IT, Consultative Sales and Accounting
areas. By the mid 90’s the organisation employed over 10 staff and had
also built a strong IT contracting business again servicing government,
which Mike Carroll had done so effectively years earlier. Most major
companies with a head office in Queensland, and State Government
departments had had some dealings with Carroll Consulting Group.
By 1998 a very strong
portfolio had been built in the Manufacturing and Sales & Marketing
sectors. Mike Carroll decided to retire and the business was sold to
Ian Hamilton, the current Managing Director. Ian had worked within the
business since the early 90’s and had been instrumental in establishing
a focus on the Manufacturing and Sales and Marketing areas. This was to
be the thrust of the business for the next several years. The emphasis,
however, was always on strategies that would understand the client’s
business and deliver very good candidates.
It was also during ‘98
that the company became an Australian foundation member of the NPA
Worldwide Recruitment Network. This co-operative (www.npainc.com) has
grown to over 70 members across Australia of small to medium sized,
professionally operated independent recruitment consultancies. Around
the globe there are almost 400 companies, bound together with a common
set of protocols, ethics and state of the art technology. This has
allowed Carroll Consulting Group to use additional resources from
selected partners to assist with client assignments and in placing
candidates and has had significant benefit in the company’s growth and
presence in the Australian market place. It also gives the staff of
Carroll Consulting Group the opportunity to interact with other
consultants and business owners on a National and International level
and provides a forum for discussing common problems, issues and
opportunities facing the industry.
In 2002 the existing
philosophy of personal commitment to recruitment excellence was
reinforced with the adoption of the “Strategic Recruiters” line within
the Carroll Consulting Group banner and revised business plan. The
strong and proven recruitment processes were made more robust,
including the introduction of in-depth behavioural interviewing and
competency banks for all senior roles.
Carroll Consulting Group in 2007 is a valued partner to a number of Australian-based
companies, and offers a range of Executive Recruitment, Contracting and
HR services across Manufacturing, Sales and Marketing, Information
Technology, Engineering, Accounting, Finance and Administration and
Human Resources. This year has also seen an enhancement of the staff
retention and profit-sharing arrangements for Carroll Consulting Group
employees and a new strategic alliance has been established with the
Chandler MacLeod Group. We are now a “channel partner” (a partnering
arrangement worked out directly with Kevin Chandler) and have
successfully developed a range of reporting tools and processes that
are unique to Carroll Consulting Group in delivering value-adding
psychological assessment information to clients on short-listed
candidates.
Going forward - Carroll Consulting
Group has stayed true to a philosophy of continuing to add value,
commitment and passion to the range of Recruitment, Contracting and HR
Services we deliver to our clients. We have recently incorporated the
words “High Care – High Commitment” into the way we describe ourselves
and our approach to the recruitment process. We are continuing to grow,
but in a way that reinforces our values and strives to provide a
working environment that enhances the job satisfaction of everybody
within the company.
